Perhaps you want the closest thing to M855 that you can get for your 223 Rem rifle. Or maybe you would like to train with similar ammo to M855 at a range which ixnays magnetic ammunition. Or it could be that you just want super reliable 223 range ammo, but desire a slightly heavier bullet than it’s usually loaded with. It don’t matter! Hornady BLACK 223 is good for whatever ails ya!

This cartridge is loaded with a 62 grain bullet. It’s a touch heavier than normal, which (A) slows its muzzle velocity down to 3,100 fps out of a 24” barrel, and (B) gives it the greater momentum which helps it stand up against wind drift. The lead-core FMJ won’t behave exactly like an M855 bullet while it’s coursing downrange, but it’s decently close. It’s also a blast to see even if you have no idea what we’re on about with all this M855 talk!

Hornady’s BLACK series ammo is designed around versatility. So long as your rifle is chambered for 223 (or for that matter 5.56x45), then it should run this reloadable brass-cased ammo like a dream!
