Federal Ammunition 55 Grain TSX Ammo Details

This 223 Rem round by Federal features the TSX projectile by Barnes. The TSX causes very little fouling as it charges down a rifle’s bore thanks both to its all copper design and the grooves machined into its shank. The virtue of its monolithic composition is that the TSX is able to retain essentially the entirety of its weight as it penetrates game deeply, and its pressure relieving grooves further promote its excellent accuracy.

The copper TSX has a deep hollow point tip. Shortly after penetration commences it begins expanding to up to double its original diameter, producing four extremely sharp cutting petals as it does so. This means that the wound cavity it creates is not only deep, but wide as well. That expansion takes place even after this bullet has lost up to about one third of its muzzle velocity, so its terminal performance is reliable.

Federal’s own first-rate brass casing ensures that this round performs well during your hunt, and their sensitive primer and fast-burning propellant do their parts well. It’s a great solution for AR-15 hunting.
