200rds – 6.5 Creedmoor Sellier & Bellot 131gr. SP Ammo

Sellier & Bellot Ammunition 131 Grain Soft-Point (SP) Ammo Details

Sellier & Bellot is the oldest ammo manufacturer in the world (not counting companies that closed their doors at any point during the past two centuries). Their 6.5 Creedmoor deer hunting ammunition is reliable, accurate and deadly – good for you, but very bad for whitetail, blacktail and mule deer.

This round’s 131 grain soft point bullet isn’t overly sophisticated. It just works. Its concentric brass jacket, uniformly distributed solid lead core and small boat tail all ensure that the SP holds a steady trajectory and retains at least 1,000 ft lbs of energy until approximately 420 yards. (This round’s 2,740 fps muzzle velocity and 0.389 G1 ballistic coefficient were recorded by Sellier & Bellot with a 21.75” test barrel.)

The SP resists significant fragmentation after impact thanks to its tough jacket. The jacket also serves to guide uniform outward expansion while the bullet’s soft lead core flattens down. That ensures a much wider wound channel than the 6.5 CM bullet’s original 0.2644” diameter could account for on its own.

This Czech-made ammo checks all the important boxes: brass cases for reloading, modern Boxer primers for non-corrosive ignition, and clean-burning powder that will conserve a rifle’s accuracy over the course of a long hunt or target shooting session.
