Sometimes big things come in small packages. This Federal Shorty Shotshell’s 1-3/4” length may have eliminated its chances of ever being drafted by an NBA team, but it is more than capable of delivering the accuracy and energy required for target practice, hunting or home defense!This shell’s slug weighs in at one solid ounce, and its explosive elements will propel it to a supersonic muzzle velocity of 1,200 fps. Zero in at 100 yards, and the 0.110 G1 ballistic coefficient projectile will only fall -5.3” at 125 yards. The slug conserves 890 ft lbs of energy at 100 yards, and its hollow point nose cavity does equip it for devastating terminal expansion. The lead slug’s rifled design permits it to safely pass through a smoothbore shotgun’s choke.
At 1-3/4”, this shell is only about 63% as long as a standard 2-3/4” round. That means you can fit significantly more of them in a pump-action shotgun’s magazine! Some shotguns do require adapters before they can reliably cycle short shells. Consult your shotgun’s manufacturer (or ask us) if you’re unsure about your shotgun’s short shell compatibility.
