This is essentially the same kind of ammo the U.S. Army issues for training. Winchester just so happens to manage the federal government’s Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, so suffice to say they know how to make 5.56 M193.

What do those letter and numbers mean? Primarily that this ammo is loaded with 55 grain full metal jackets. They’re not especially remarkable bullets. We can’t describe how their polymer tips improve in-flight stability, or how their bonded jackets promote deeper penetration, because they haven’t got such high-tech features. They’re simply built lead and copper items – nonmagnetic – but they’re balanced and sleek enough to treat any target shooter to the consistent accuracy and precision they want.

Winchester’s brass cases aren’t shiny looking, but that’s no indication that they are reloaded. Their necks underwent annealment (i.e. heat-treatment that prevents cracking/splitting under the pressure of ignition), and their unpolished surfaces make that step of their manufacture plainly apparent.
