1000rds – 5.56x45 Winchester 62gr. FMJ M855 Ammo

Winchester Ammunition 62 Grain Penetrator Ammo Details

If you’re already familiar with Winchester’s 5.56x45 M855 ammunition, then here is your chance to snap up a whole case of the stuff! But if you’re wondering what’s the deal with this green-tipped ammo, please read on!

This cartridge’s FMJ bullet wears paint because it is special. Just beneath the nose of its jacket sits a seven-grain solid steel “penetrator” tip. (The rest of the core is made of solid lead.) It deserves its name, as a penetrator bullet is much more capable of passing through barriers like sheet metal than a standard FMJ could ever manage. The M855 round’s bullet is also a little heavier than normal at 62 grains. This slows down its muzzle velocity, but also gives it an accuracy advantage at long range.

Ammo like this is great for target shooting and home defense, and it is compatible with all 5.56 AR-15 rifles. A 1:8 or 1:9 twist barrel is best for the heavier bullet, but you’ll be able to hit close-to-medium range targets just fine with a 1:7 twist barrel as well.

This magnetic ammo is loaded with non-corrosive Boxer primers and new brass cases. You will see that the cases are darker around their shoulders, but that’s only because Winchester’s military-grade brass isn’t shined up for better cosmetics. Just like an AmmoToGo.com employee, this ammo is ugly but it does a great job. Har har!

Both lake city (Winchester) M193 & M855 have served me well for thousands of rounds thru my self built guns. They are a bit “spicy “ so if they don’t fly, your gun is not tuned, very dirty or both. Buy as much as you can before they find a way to ban it- Scott and crew are the best- hang in w/ ATG!. 100% reliable
