1000rds – 5.56x45 Sellier & Bellot 55gr. FMJ M193 Ammo
Sellier & Bellot Ammunition 55 Grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Ammo Details
Sellier & Bellot started out all the way back in 1825, making a now very obsolete type of primer called the percussion cap. Flash forward to today and the Czech manufacturer turns out over three million rounds daily. As part of CBC Global Ammunition they now export their ammo throughout the world. We are fortunate to offer their 5.56x45 cartridges by the case! This is a true M193 spec cartridge, with a 55 grain bullet that is hardened by a coper-zinc alloy jacket. This is the same type of cartridge issued by the U.S. Army for the M16, although Sellier & Bellot’s load offers a slightly peppier muzzle velocity than average at 3,301 fps (out of a 23.5 inch barrel). By our calculations that gives this round a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.254, which means its FMJ bullet needs to rise by no more than 1.5 inches en route to a 200 yard target, transfers a crushing 500 ft lbs of energy at 360 yards, and remains supersonic until nearly 750 yards. You can certainly apply that sort of ballistic and terminal performance toward target practice, but it’ll prove immensely handy if you ever need to protect yourself and your own as well.
Sellier & Bellot adheres to CIP standards when they make their commercial ammo, which is like the European version of America’s SAAMI. They exclusively implement newly crafted brass cases to load their ammo, in which they install non-corrosive Boxer primers and regular charges of clean burning propellant. Please note that 5.56x45 ammo is not intended for rifles that are chambered only for 223 Rem.
