This cartridge sticks to the 45 ACP’s classic specs. Its bullet is a simple full metal jacket, complete with a lead core and copper-alloy jacket that cannot attract a magnet. Federal recorded the bullet’s 830 fps muzzle velocity with a 5” barrel. At that rate, you can expect about -2” drop at 50 yards when you aim to 25 yards. The FMJ can’t undergo terminal expansion, which really does make it better suited for target practice than it does self-defense.
