It is Federal Premium’s Champion label ammunition, to be more specific. It’s loaded to very conventional specifications: 180 grain bullet, 1,000 fps muzzle velocity (4” barrel), and 90% velocity, 81% energy retention at 100 yards. No one who’s spent any amount of time with a 40 S&W pistol in their hands ought to wonder what to expect from such ammo.

This ammo’s plated full metal jackets bullet are nonmagnetic. They are inadvisable for ported barrels or ported compensators, however, as a port may slice off a piece of plated jacket and bounce it back at the shooter, which isn’t nice.

Federal Champion is loaded with new brass and noncorrosive Boxer primers: the two hallmarks of reloadability. It’s also packaged nicely, with five boxes per case and trays that keep the cartridges lined up in rows.
