The FMJ lacks any steel that could attract a magnet, and possesses a hard enough jacket to avoid deformation that could cause feeding jams or weak accuracy.

We don’t recommend non-expanding FMJs for home defense simply because there are so many better options on the market, although ammo like this is commonly stockpiled for emergencies because it’s still plenty effective in combat.
