The 7mm Mauser, also known as the 7×57mm, has proven itself time and time again in combat. If you could ask any of Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders about the cartridge, they’d tell you about the unsettling “z-z-z-z-z-eu” its bullet makes as it whizzes menacingly toward its target. George Orwell would also attest to the 7mm Mauser’s efficacy, as he too would have witnessed it firsthand during the Spanish Civil War. You’ll not find the old round inside of combat anymore, but it has maintained some popularity among hunters -- what was good enough to take on Teddy and George is certainly appropriate for hunting deer and boar.This round has a 139 grain soft point projectile. The bullet’s jacket protects against bore fouling and promotes certain penetration, and its exposed core causes that jacket to peel away to create devastating expansion. A Prvi Partizan round further offers a reloadable brass casing, as well as a primer which won’t produce caustic residues when ignited that would have harmed your action.
