This cartridge’s 230 grain projectile achieves a 920 fps muzzle velocity without generating higher-than-standard chamber pressure. At that rate it reaches 25 yards with over 400 ft lbs of kinetic energy – at least 33% more than the minimum usually recommended for self-defense.

The bullet is Browning’s proprietary X-Point. The jacketed hollow point features an X-shaped barrier that keeps debris from clogging its nose cavity. Once the bullet has passed through a light barrier shielding the threat, its deep cavity and notched jacket combine to produce rapid positive expansion.
