Winchester USA Ready Defense 40 S&W ammunition is designed for a single yet very important purpose: to ensure you have the firepower you need to walk away from a life-threatening altercation unscathed.

This cartridge’s 170 grain jacketed hollow point exits the barrel at a rate of 1,170 fps. Its resultant 517 ft lbs muzzle energy is strong enough to incapacitate even the most determined threat. The jacketed hollow point’s nose cavity contains a Hex Vent – Winchester’s proprietary hard polymer insert which is designed to spare the JHP from filling with debris and becoming less effective as the result. Notches surrounding the jacket’s rim allow it to split apart quickly and uniformly, even when it has less momentum working in its favor.

This ammunition treats a handgun or PCC to clockwork ignition, recoil and ballistics courtesy of its match grade Boxer primers and propellant charges. Nickel-plated brass cases reduce friction to promote error-free feeding and extraction, and they also defend the ammo against performance-harming corrosion.
