20rds – 410 Gauge Federal Personal Defense 3" 5 Pellet 000 Buckshot Ammo Details

When you keep something like an S&W Governor or a Taurus Judge for personal protection, it’s because you especially wouldn’t like to be bothered. Why chamber a 45 Long Colt in such a handgun when it has the potential to become a miniature shotgun instead? Well, this shotshell by Federal is just the thing to make it that way.

This 410 Bore shell is loaded with five pellets of 000 buck. At .36” in diameter apiece, such lead balls have a tendency to treat whatever they crash into very roughly, especially when they exit the muzzle at a velocity of 775 fps. This shell won’t let you down whether you’d load it in your EDC or keep it by your bedside, as it patterns tightly -- you can put all five of its cannonballs through a pretty small circle from a dozen yards away.

This shell’s brass head facilitates extraction from a cylinder. Its propellant is clean burning and evenly loaded to ensure consistent shot to shot performance.

Went through a couple of boxes of these today. My Raging Judge Magnum fired all rounds smooth and clean. Interesting to note that when the hand cannon heated up (after 50 rounds of 45LC and a few Casull rounds) , several of the plastic shell casings deformed/melted a little after firing. Extracting them was not a problem, they were just in there a bit...firmly. No big deal, just shows how much energy the rounds generate and how much heat the massive cylinder holds. Considering the brutal pattern the load makes at about 10-15 yards, it's going to be my HD round of choice.
