Lead is a dense metal: 11 g/cc. But tungsten? Tungsten’s density puts lead to shame, as proven by the soaring-high 18 g/cc density of Tungsten Super Shot (TSS).

Hevi could have loaded this shell with TSS of the same size that you would normally choose if you were hunting with lead. Instead they went much smaller: #7, which, when it is TSS, has roughly the same stopping power as #4 lead. That’s why this round launches so many more pellets at its target. If its 13/16 ounce shot column were #4 lead, it would contain around 110 pellets. But because it is blessed with the density of tungsten, it throws 151 pellets at the gobbler instead!
