This 12 Gauge shotshell from Federal’s Vital-Shok line of ammunition is loaded with nine pellets of buckshot. The .33” diameter pellets are made of tungsten rather than lead, however, which imparts a couple of key advantages to performance. Tungsten is a whole heck of a lot harder than lead, so the shot preserves its sphericity marvelously as it is propelled down the bore. It’s denser for that matter, too, so it blasts a devastatingly deep wound channel into whatever hog, buck, or coyote you could sent it toward.

Despite its indisputable power and 1,600 fps muzzle velocity, this shell’s recoil falls squarely within the range you’ll consider manageable. Federal’s FliteControl wad is in there to deliver an even tighter pattern downrange, so you won’t have to get so close to your quarry that you’ll be able to smell its breath.
