This is a subsonic cartridge, with a 1,050 fps muzzle velocity that won’t break the sound barrier. That means no sharp, cracking report that will unsettle the neighbors or hurt your eardrums (but we always advise wearing hearing protection nevertheless). Its subsonic velocity also means this ammo almost certainly won’t cycle a semi-automatic.

This cartridge’s 40 grain segmented hollow point bullet doesn’t play fair with small game. Instead of expanding like a traditional HP, the SHP splits apart into three equally sized pieces. Each one excavates its own little lethal wound channel. Penetration depth is inadequate for self-defense applications, but right on the money if you’re ever shooting down a squirrel or other rodent-type critter!

Now the only round I use in 10-22 + suppressor and Ruger Mark IV + suppressor. Unlike other mfgs, CCI HP SSSHP fires every time, cycles every round and is as accurate as you and your rifle are. Terminally impressive.

This segmented HP subsonic round works wonders on Small game - it dose what it claims - segments on impact and drops the critters like now- Of course this ammo is super quiet from "silenced" rifles . the best HP Hunting ammo going
