These Sierra MatchKing (SMK) projectiles have been specifically crafted to meet the requirements of the venerable MK 262 Mod 1 cartridge. That means that handloaders can utilize these bullets to create powerful, accurate 5.56mm NATO ammunition that mirrors the performance used by some of the best sharpshooters and snipers in the U.S. military. Each bullet weighs in at 77 grains and possesses a large overall length (OAL) that increases rifling contact in order to improve spin stability. While this results in incredible accuracy, the OAL is not too great as to preclude compatibility with magazine-fed rifles. Due to the heavy weight, these projectiles will yield optimal performance when fired from barrels with fast twist rate like 1:8 and 1:7.

The SMK profile features a precise hollow-point meplat, through which lead wire is spun, as well as an elongated boat-tail rear which makes them known as HPBT projectiles. These features contribute to unparalleled material consistency, uniform jacket dimensions, and superior in-flight drag resistance. Unlike most MatchKing rounds, these particular bullets feature a military-requested cannelure at their crimp points which provides extra security throughout rough handling and recoil. Sierra's stringent inspection methods ensure that each of these projectiles is within .0003 inches of the specified .224 inch diameter.
