These .224 inch diameter bullets are purpose-made for Service Rifle reloaders who shoot matches using heavy barrel (H-BAR) M16A2 and AR-15A2 profiles. With a weight of 80 grains, these bullets possess a massive overall length (OAL) which means they can only be used with single-load systems like the Bob Sled once they've been crafted into 5.56x45mm rounds. The increased OAL gives the projectile a large amount of surface area contact with a barrel's rifling which translates to improved stability and great accuracy on target. These HPBT rounds should only be combined with a twist rate of 1:8 or faster.
As part of the MatchKing line, these heavyweight bullets feature strong gilding metal jackets, pronounced boat-tails, and lead cores of uniform density. These features all combine to deliver superb drag-resistance and consistent dimensions that contribute to extremely tight groups downrange. Some shooters have even used the 80 grain profile in .223 Remington loads to achieve positive hits far past 1,000 yards. Sierra uses roving inspection methods and precise machinery to ensure that each MatchKing round bears a maximum deviation of 0.3 grains in weight and .0003 inches in jacket concentricity.
