44 SPECIAL Ammo

The 44 Special (aka 44 S&W Special, or 44 Spl) is arguably most important for contributing the parent case to the substantially more popular 44 Magnum. Even so, it remains a practical solution for personal defense. The Charter Arms Bulldog is a popular 44 Special revolver, although we sense that most people who buy this ammo are looking for lower-recoil performance out of their 44 Mag firearms. A 240 grain bullet is common for this round.

    Just put a box through my S&W 1854. I purchased the ammo to compare 44 special to 44 mag with the suppressor on. It didn’t feed the greatest but it was noticeably quieter. I’m not taking a bunch of stars off because the rifle isn’t specifically designed for this round. So malfunctions are to be expected. Also, the rifle isn’t completely broken in so it might be me. Otherwise the rounds were consistent. Low recoil, made holes in paper, FMJ Side note: my boxes were marked “44 sw spl low recoil” The upc code matches what’s listed above, so I have the right product.

    Good load in Bulldogs and 2.75" Model 69 Smith. Penetrates well thru clothing, but it suffers from shallow depth in Ballistic gel. 13" is about max depth so SD use is not great. I have carried it but am not using it often as I fear it would not reach vital organs reliably. Mild recoil, and good accuracy. Like all .44 ammo, terribly over priced, altho this is the best prices I have seen.

    This weird shaped pointy bullet shoots mild and is accurate but can serve no purpose other than plinking or range practice. I can see NO USE for self defense.
