Steel, as you’re already aware, is less dense than lead: 7.8 g/cc, as opposed to the heavy metal’s density of 11.3 g/cc. That presents a challenge to waterfowl hunters. How do you make sure that #1 steel shot pellets hit hard, like heavier #1 lead ones?

The answer is simple: speed, which this Hevi-Steel 20 Gauge shell is in no short supply of.

This 3” shell holds 7/8 ounces of shot, just like a standard 2-3/4” 20ga target load. But unlike a clay cracker, this round’s muzzle velocity is supercharged all the way up to 1,400 feet per second. When #1 steel is flying that fast, it can’t help but catch up to the bird in a hurry and do very lethal things to it on arrival. It’s a matter of physics!
