This round would have had 394 pellets of #7.5 lead shot if its shot column weighed 1-1/8 ounces, which is usually the maximum allowed for competitive target shooting. But because it’s just 1 ounce, you’re looking at 350 pellets instead. The weight reduction doesn’t reduce pattern density all that much, but it does soften felt recoil quite nicely. The shell’s hinged wad accomplishes the same purpose, and it also tightens pattern diameter by preventing deformation of the shot pellets during the initial impulse of ignition.
Winchester is headquartered in East Alton, IL. That’s where this ammo received its clean-burning powder and primers, which light up right on queue to deliver a 1,250 fps muzzle velocity. That’s right in the middle of the road as far as target shell muzzle velocities go. This ammo also features Win’s high-strength steel-headed reloadable hulls.
