This 3” shell’s 1-1/4 ounce shot column is comprised of two different types of shot. At the base sits a pile of BB steel: classic and affordably built, with precision plating to lock out rust and a 7.8 g/cc density which carries decently deadly energy downrange. On top sits #7 Tungsten Super Shot (TSS), which gets away with being so small thanks to its extraordinary 18 g/cc density.

Winchester says if this shell were only loaded with BB steel, then its kill zone would equal around 90 pellets. But by including so many tiny pieces of TSS, its kill zone gets boosted by over 20% to around 110 pellets.

Winchester makes a great shell: high brass, straight sided, with a 4-1/4 dram equivalent that plays nicely with semi-automatics. Its sealed primers and wads give this ammo even greater protection against the wet.
