(We recommend “white.”)This 2-3/4” shell stores a heavy 1-1/2 ounce column of #4 shot, which is why it’s able to assault a tom with over 200 deadly little lead balls. The shell’s fast-burning powder gives that payload a 1,260 fps muzzle velocity, thus ensuring the shot retains enough downrange momentum to kill on contact.
The Nitro Magnum shell includes two important accuracy-enhancing features. First is Remington’s Power Piston wad, a dense piece of plastic which cups the shot closely together before immediately separating from it upon expulsion. Second is granulated buffering material, which absorbs the shock of sudden ignition to preserve each shot pellet’s sphericity. That keeps the shot able to follow a straight line, pattern densely and avoid frustrating fly aways.
