When a firing pin hits this round’s noncorrosive primer, it sparks up a charge of clean-burning powder and accelerates a felt wad to a velocity of 1,135 fps. The wad’s not all that important – but this round’s five separate pieces of 000 buckshot certainly are. They march down the barrel single file, relying on their hard lead composition to avert deformation, pattern more narrowly, and ultimately penetrate more deeply into the target. Each ~70 grain bead bursts out of the muzzle with approximately 200 ft lbs of kinetic energy. Contact with just one or two of the 0.36” diameter triple-aught pellets is sure to spell big trouble for your target.
