But if you pinned us down to the ground and threatened to pour fire ants in our ears until we said one negative thing about lead, it would have to be this: lead is toxic.Steel is not toxic, however, which is why Federal’s Upland Steel series 12 Gauge ammunition is a great way to conserve the environment while simultaneously removing birds from it. This shell’s 1oz. charge of #7.5 shot won’t just prevent pollution, either. It patterns with outstanding efficiency courtesy of the hard pellets’ inability to deform, and the relatively lighter pellets still pack ample punch thanks to the shell’s lickety-split 1,330 fps muzzle velocity.
The eco-friendly features don’t end with the steel shot. This ammo is loaded with paper wads – still perfectly effective at patterning shot through a variety of chokes, but also due to decompose pretty quickly once they land on the ground. Federal’s usual primers and powder do their usual great work, and you’ll have no incentive to leave such high-quality reloadable hulls on the ground.
