Weatherby 140 Grain TTSX Ammo Details

Weatherby loads exactly five different types of 7mm Weatherby Magnum cartridges at the time of writing. Two are loaded with lead-free bullets. This one has the lighter of them: a 140 grain Tipped Triple-Shock X, which is optimal for taking any game the 7mm Wby Mag can topple.

The TTSX is much more than compliant with laws that ban lead. Its monolithic construction eliminates lead fouling, optimizes rotational stability, promotes effectively deep penetration, and keeps the trophy’s meat unadulterated by heavy metal fragments. Its excessively sleek tip and side profile, four Accu-Groove channels, and flat precision heel radius all count toward the TTSX’s high accuracy (0.412 G1 BC; -9.1” drop 100 yards downrange of 300-yard zero; ~2,400 ft lbs striking energy at 300 yards).

The TTSX’s real talent is terminal expansion. In addition to forgoing excessive fragmentation, the bullet is able to expand wide and quickly (“quickly” relative to other copper bullets, at least). The end result is the extension of four sharp “cutting petals,” which are about as destructive to their immediate surroundings as they sound.
