Hornady didn’t take any liberties when they named their Precision Hunter line of ammunition. These 7mm STW rounds all have superlative brass casings, each loaded to uniform capacity with clean burning propellant that will deliver a consistent chamber pressure and muzzle velocity regardless of the temperature it’s ignited in. It’s Hornady’s ELD-X projectile that really steals the show, though.

The Extremely Low Drag - eXpanding bullet combines a fantastic ballistic coefficient with lethal terminal performance at virtually any range to give the hunter a clear cut advantage out in the woods. The ELD-X utilizes a boat tail design, streamlined secant ogive profile, and Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket with essentially zero variation in the thickness of its wall to achieve its startling accuracy. What’s more, its Heat Shield tip is a spear of polymer that won’t deform when broiled by air friction.

The ELD-X features an InterLock ring that binds its core and jacket together mechanically. For that reason it is able to retain up to 60 percent of its weight as it careens into targets at high velocities. At 400 yards out the ELD-X’s polymer tip reliably initiates devastating expansion, while at the same time losing no less than ten percent of its weight for an assured deep wound channel.
