This ammo is crafted by Black Hills, which currently supplies all match 5.56 used by U.S. military service rifle teams. The South Dakotan manufacturer chose Hornady’s 175 grain Extremely Low Drag - eXpanding (ELD-X) projectile because it combines match grade accuracy with powerful elk-ending terminal ballistics.

The ELD-X’s signature feature is its Heat Shield polymer tip: invulnerable to aerodynamic heating, and always streamlined because of it. The ELD-X’s secant ogive geometry and boat tail do even more to flatten its overall trajectory, and its Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket does not contain concentricity flaws that could impair balance.

Between its thick copper shank and InterLock ring, the ELD-X boasts the extraordinary toughness it needs to survive close-range impact without forfeiting more than half of its weight in the process. Wherever your quarry stands, the ELD-X’s massive positive expansion will ensure that it knows it’s been shot.

This ammo is reloadable. Black Hills captured its muzzle velocity with a 24” test barrel.
