Hornady’s Copper alloy eXpanding bullet is made of copper alloy (duh). Its flawless balance and inability to deposit lead residue both work in favor of its accuracy. Its high ductility (relative to that of lead, at least) also benefits its terminal performance, as it withstands high-velocity impact without losing more than one-twentieth of its weight. Deep penetration ahoy!

The CX does a lot of work before it hits and expands inside of its target, too. Its optimum groove geometry helps it conserve superior momentum in flight, as does its proprietary Heat Shield – a flat-tipped polymer spear which supplies uniform drag, and which also avoids deformation resulting from air friction.
