This 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge by Hornady sports a 120 grain GMX projectile. That bullet’s defining feature is its 100 percent copper alloy construction -- Californian hunters, please take note. Such a bullet conveys other advantages as well: It’s categorically incapable of depositing lead residue in a rifle’s barrel, and its composition enables it to retain no less than 95 percent of its weight during penetration.

As it penetrates, the GMX will expand up to 1.5 times its original diameter, producing a wide and deep wound channel that a whitetail’s not going to lope away from.
