This 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge by Hornady sports a 120 grain GMX projectile. That bullet’s defining feature is its 100 percent copper alloy construction -- Californian hunters, please take note. Such a bullet conveys other advantages as well: It’s categorically incapable of depositing lead residue in a rifle’s barrel, and its composition enables it to retain no less than 95 percent of its weight during penetration.As it penetrates, the GMX will expand up to 1.5 times its original diameter, producing a wide and deep wound channel that a whitetail’s not going to lope away from. The GMX’s polymer tip acts to start that expansion upon impact, and along with the bullet’s sleek profile and pressure relieving grooves greatly improves its aerodynamic profile.
As an Outfitter, this round’s brass casing wears nickel plating to protect it from corrosion. Its casing’s mouth and primer are also sealed, so you needn’t worry about heavy rain turning your hunt into a long and pointless hike.
