Selling Hornady’s premium Outfitter series 6.5 Creedmoor hunting ammo is the least we can do to help hunters who’ve got to follow special rules. And you know what? If you hunt where lead’s allowed, then you’ll still find plenty to love about an Outfitter load.

The Copper alloy eXpanding, or CX, is, as you’ve already understood, lead-free. That means it’s also incapable of creating lead fouling, or discarding little fragments of lead inside meat. That also means it’s more durable than a traditional bullet – so much so that it dependably holds on to no less than 95% of its weight while it undergoes rapid expansion.

The CX’s copper alloy body doesn’t just promote better accuracy by eliminating lead fouling. It also wears special grooves to reduce copper fouling, and has Hornady’s most technologically advanced Heat Shield tip to date. The polymer spear’s special flat tip is engineered to optimize drag uniformity, and it doesn’t deform while it’s heated by air friction.

Very pretty cases on this ammo. They’re brass, but also nickel-plated: a safeguard against corrosion, which additionally reduces friction during feeding and extraction. This ammo’s primers and case mouths are both sealed against moisture infiltration as well.
