Hornady’s Custom line is engineered to provide shooters the benefit of hand-loaded accuracy and performance in a cost-effective factory load. All Hornady Custom ammunition is built to tight tolerances and hand inspected before packaging to ensure the highest possible level of reliability and performance.

Each individual component of Hornady’s Custom loads screams quality. Each cartridge is loaded with powders specially blended to ensure optimal pressure, velocity, and consistency. Primers are carefully matched to individual loads and specifically selected to produce rapid, complete, and reliable ignition. Hornady also produces most of its own brass, setting high standards for corrosion resistance, hardness, and the ability to withstand maximum chamber pressures.

Each new production Hornady Custom .480 Ruger cartridge is topped with a 400 grain XTP jacketed hollow point projectile. Hornady’s famous XTP (Extreme Terminal Performance) bullets may be the most popular handgun bullet for hunting, target shooting, and personal defense. These proprietary projectiles are designed to expand reliably at a wide range of velocities. XTP bullets feature a swaged lead core for balance and uniform density and a drawn gilding metal jacket. The jacket is strategically serrated into symmetrical sections. This weakens the jacket and initiates controlled expansion even at low velocities.

This ammunition comes packed in 20-round boxes. Each round produces a consistent muzzle velocity of 1100 feet per second with 1075 foot pounds of muzzle energy.
