This 458 Winchester Magnum ammunition is perfect for squirrel hunting – if the squirrels in your area are roughly the same size as African elephants. Hornady’s Dangerous Game Series ammunition is equally suitable for actual elephant, as well as any other large game which you’d rather only have to shoot once.This cartridge is loaded with the Dangerous Game eXpanding (DGX) Bonded projectile. Its tough lead core is welded to its copper-clad steel jacket, so it possesses the fortitude requisite to deeply penetrate a very tough beast’s hide, muscle and bone. The DGX Bonded retains the vast majority of its weight as it lets loose expansion that broadens its overall diameter to somewhere between 0.687 and 0.916”.
The 500 grain DGX Bonded attains a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.295 once it exits a 24” barrel’s muzzle at a rate of 2,140 fps.
