Federal Premium’s Solid Core ammo gives dangerous critters the only reason they need to leave you alone. This is an over-pressure cartridge: only suitable for firearms that are specifically designed to contain its ferocity, and capable of sending a walloping 533 ft lbs of kinetic energy out of a 5” barrel.

Raw power is just one of this round’s secret weapons against dangerous game. Another is its heavy, hard cast Solid Core bullet, which is too rigid to flatten down as it tunnels through a big critter’s mass, and therefore able to penetrate far, far deeper than any standard JHP could manage.

The Solid Core bullet doesn’t let its high-antimony lead core make contact with the rifling. Its Syntech polymer jacket prevents copper fouling, too, so you can trust your EDC to stay clean and accurate out in the woods.

Federal loads this ammo with nickel-plated brass cases. That’s a good addition to ammo you’re meant to carry outdoors, because nickel shields the underlying brass against moisture (not to mention a leather holster’s tanning chemicals, which can also corrode brass).
