40 S&W Buffalo Bore 180 Grain +P FMJ-FN Ammo – 20 Rounds

Buffalo Bore is an American-owned company based in Salmon, Indiana. Specializing in the safe manufacture of “hot” and overpressure ammunition, Buffalo Bore is best known for producing ammunition with increased power levels.

This package contains 20 rounds of Buffalo Bore .40 Smith & Wesson +P ammunition. Each round is loaded with a 180 grain full metal jacket projectile. These FMJ bullets feature a flat nose to punch clean, highly visible holes in paper targets.

Leaving the muzzle at a velocity of 1100 feet per second, these rounds produce a velocity close to 150 fps faster than most standard .40 S&W ammunition.

These +P overpressure rounds use flash suppressed powders which high velocities at low pressures. This ammunition is an ideal practice load, especially if you prefer a more powerful defensive hollow point for everyday carry. Providing more realistic training, these loads deliver realistic ballistics and felt recoil.

With so many different .40 S&W handguns in public use, it is not practical to claim which are compatible with every 40 S&W +P load. Ultimately, this is the owner’s responsibility. However, this ammunition performs best in pistols with a fully supported chamber.

From the Speer #13 loading manual:

"Some pistols chambered for the 40 S&W cartridge may not provide complete support of the case head. If this condition exists, normal pressure loads such as those shown here can cause the case wall to bulge or rupture at the unsupported point. Contact your firearm manufacturer to determine if your pistol completely supports the case head, or ask a gunsmith to inspect your pistol before using it with ANY ammunition. It is the gun owners responsibility to know his firearm and its capabilities and limitations."

From the Hodgdon's #27 Loading Manual:

"This data is intended for use in firearms which fully support the cartridge in the chamber. Use of this data in firearms which do not fully support the cartridge may result in bulged cases, ruptured cases, case head separation, or other conditions which may result in damage to the firearm and/or result in injury or death of the shooter or bystanders."
