20rds – 380 ACP +P Buffalo Bore 95gr. FMJ FN Ammo

20rds – 380 ACP +P Buffalo Bore 95gr. FMJ FN Ammo Details

Here’s an unusual thing: 380 ACP +P, which is loaded to higher-than-standard pressure by a company that specializes in pushing the boundaries of ammunition.

If this round is built for self-defense, then why isn’t its bullet a jacketed hollow point? Good question. It’s intended to compensate for the 380 ACP’s characteristic lack of stopping power (by modern standards, at least). Instead of limiting its penetration depth by mushrooming outward, the full metal jacket flat nose can only pass onward through soft tissue. As a result, it’s likelier to reach a threat’s vital organs than a JHP.

The FMJ FN is certainly helped by the round’s hot muzzle velocity. The 95 grain bullet’s muzzle velocity out of a 3.75” barrel is equivalent to a 115 grain 9mm bullet out of a 4” barrel. An amazing feat for the 380! Buffalo Bore recorded this round’s muzzle velocity using the following real-world firearms: BDA, 1,145 fps (3.75" bbl); Walther PPK, 1,120 fps (3.5" bbl); KelTec, 1,019 fps (2.75"); Colt Mustang Pocket Lite, 1,042 fps (2.75").
