The 338-378 Weatherby Magnum is not quite as popular as several other large game hunting cartridges. We are certain that would change if only more people tried it out! But you are already a believer, which is why Weatherby’s own ammo – featuring nothing less than the 225 grain Barnes Tipped Triple-Shock X – ought to be squarely up your alley.The TTSX is a lead-free bullet. Solid copper, with the exception of its polymer tip, and therefore compliant with some jurisdictions’ strict laws against lead bullets. The TTSX’s lack of core or jacket imperfections measurably enhances its rotational stability. Its sleek tip, precision heel radius, and Accu-Groove which decreases the amount of contact the TTSX’s shank makes with the bore are all in service of improved accuracy. It is a 0.490 G1 BC bullet, and therefore capable of supersonic flight up to approximately 1,400 yards!
A solid copper bullet can’t undergo core/jacket separation, and its superior ductility greatly reduces post-impact fragmentation. That helps the TTSX penetrate deeply while it undergoes terminal expansion. As its tip presses inward, the TTSX curls out four separate cutting petals – each devastating in its own right, and thoroughly deadly as part of a team effort.
