This cartridge launches two different projectiles in immediate succession. The 50 grain (100 pellet) barrage of #9 lead shot leads the way, and in tight pattern by virtue of avoiding centrifugal spread altogether. A 40 grain hardcast solid follows after.

The round’s 1,000 fps muzzle velocity (4” barrel) makes neither projectile type especially powerful. But “powerful” is a relative thing. If your head weighs a few ounces and contains fragile hinged jaws, then the sheer passing thought of a SnakeShot load ought to make your cold blood run even colder.
