Most lead-free ammo is touted as being compliant with certain jurisdictions’ eco-conscious hunting laws. This is 32 ACP ammo, of course, which is about as useful for hunting as a pug is for home security.

But the Black Hills HoneyBadger is very, very, very useful for personal protection – and not just because the monolithic (i.e. solid copper) bullet keeps the barrel so clean. The HoneyBadger is a lot tougher than any lead-core bullet, and therefore reliably conserves most (if not all) of its weight as it presses deeply into flesh. The HoneyBadger also cannot become ineffective as a result of filling with debris, such as fabric fibers or drywall.

Instead of a nose cavity, the HoneyBadger’s tip has lateral grooves which push any flesh they engage with in lateral directions – and at very high velocities. In that fashion, the HoneyBadger is able to carve out a substantially wider wound channel than many JHPs could manage.
