Black Hills Ammunition could have loaded this 308 Win cartridge with any old bullet. But the South Dakotan company’s management is smart. They decided to load it with the Hornady CX, which is totally, completely and perfectly lead-free.

A lead-free bullet is not just required for hunting in certain places (which we won’t name). No no. It also shoots extremely clean, as it leaves behind no lead residue. Better still, it will prevent toxic metal fragments from touching any meat you might intend to eat.

The monolithic CX’s lack of core/jacket irregularities enhances its accuracy. So too does its boat tail, optimum groove geometry, and Heat Shield tip (which is named after its immunity to deformation as caused by aerodynamic heating).

The CX becomes quite ferocious once it plunges into soft tissue. Its all-copper construction makes it tougher than a normal rifle bullet. It can easily conserve 95% of its total weight, thus assuring it keeps the momentum it needs to press in deep. The CX also ends in the deep nose cavity it needs in order to expand wide and kill quick. New brass; reloadable.
