This 300 Winchester Short Magnum cartridge (which is not to be confused with a 300 Winchester Magnum cartridge) is loaded with a match-accurate hunting bullet: the Extremely Low Drag - eXpanding (ELD-X), by Hornady.



“ELD” couldn’t be closer to the truth. The ELD-X’s state-of-the-art Heat Shield tip doesn’t become misshapen while it is cooked by air friction, so it always presents its drag-equalizing and dispersion-minimizing flat DVRT meplat directly at the target. Its lofty 0.597 G1 BC and ~55% velocity retention at 500 yards are further secured by its concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket, boat tail, streamlined secant ogive profile, and of course its chart-topping 200 grain weight.



“X” is also very accurate. The ELD-X’s rigid polymer tip is set to trigger expansion across a vast span of impact velocities, and excels at the function at very far distances. Near or far, you can trust the thickly jacketed ELD-X’s InterLock ring to ward off the component separation that leads to shallow penetration.
