Black Hills armed this little beauty with a 200 grain Extremely Low Drag - Expanding (ELD-X) projectile by Hornady. (That makes this round a wholly Midwestern affair: Nebraskan bullet, South Dakotan manufacturer.) The ELD-X exhibits outstandingly accurate and consistent ballistic performance courtesy of its boat tail and Advanced Manufacturing process jacket, and most notably its Heat Shield: a polymer tip that retains its shape regardless of how intensely it is roasted by air friction.

The ELD-X’s terminal performance is just as impressive as its aerodynamic efficiency. The bullet’s thick copper shank and lead core are locked together by a suitably named InterLock ring: a protrusion of jacket embedded within the core. The ELD-X easily initiates terminal expansion at ranges well beyond 400 yards.
