Barnaul 145 Grain Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) Ammo Details

Copper is an invaluable resource, highly demanded by plumbing and penny manufacturers the world over. That’s part of the reason why traditional brass-cased, copper-jacketed ammo costs as much as it does. That’s also why Russia, a thrifty country, likes replacing ammo’s copper with far more affordable steel!

This 300 AAC Blackout ammunition by Barnaul showcases Russia’s bimetal jacket. The 145 grain bullet is mostly jacketed in soft steel, so it is (A) budget-friendly, and (B) magnetic. You’re not going to be able to take ammo with magnetic bullets to some of the more particular indoor ranges, but that’s the price you pay for saving money.

This ammo also has Barnaul’s signature steel cases. They ought to cycle efficiently thanks to their slick polymer coatings, and they’re 100 percent non-corrosive just like any American range load. Steel cases aren’t as supple as brass ones, however, which is why you can expect a little more fouling behind the chamber. Steel cases aren’t reloadable either, but on the plus side they’re easy to pick up with a big magnet.
