Some 30-06 hunters are only comfortable taking shots at reasonably close range. And that’s OK! So long as they’re having fun, they’re doing it right.

That’s why this round features the 172 grain Speer Impact: a heavy, boat tail, polymer-tipped bullet with a rear-adjusted center of gravity and chemically fused jacket. Its sleekness and balance are second to none, and allow the 0.265 G7 BC bullet to stay supersonic out past 1,200 yards.

The Speer Impact’s not named after its accuracy, however. When it goes “THUD,” its bonded jacket goes to work making sure the bullet stays more intact – precisely the state in which it can penetrate deepest. Its tip also equips the Speer Impact for low-velocity expansion, so you won’t sacrifice too much stopping power when you shoot wild game in neighboring congressional districts.
