Black Hills loads Hornady’s Nebraska-made Copper-alloy Expanding (CX) bullet in the great state of South Dakota, which makes this just about the most Midwestern ammo you can buy. The CX offers all the advantages of a monolithic projectile. It can’t distribute lead fouling. It is extremely accurate thanks to its lack of jacket concentricity flaws (it has no jacket), lack of bubbles in its lead core (it has no core), and profile which minimizes fouling and drag alike.

The CX also features Hornady’s proprietary Heat Shield tip, which is made of heat-resistant polymer that prevents air friction from deforming its meplat. Collision with hide drives the tip into the nose cavity it sits upon, which is the precise moment the CX begins letting out deadly positive expansion. Copper bullets are super tough, too, which is why you can trust a CX to retain enough of its weight to enter deeply into the game animal. Effective!
