More than a couple of marksmen have wished that they could easily hunt using their favorite match bullet: none other than the Berger Hybrid Target. Now that Berger’s revolutionary Hybrid Hunter bullet is loaded by Federal Premium, those wishes have been granted.

Why is this 270 Winchester Short Magnum cartridge’s 140 grain bullet called “Hybrid?” Because it combines two different jacket profiles: tangent ogive (which promotes ideal bore alignment at the cost of greater drag), and secant ogive (which reduces drag at the cost precise bore alignment). Amazingly, the Hybrid Hunter draws its performance from both of these profiles without assuming their respective downsides!

But that’s only the start of the Hybrid Hunter’s talents. The accurate (0.528 G1/0.271 G7 BC) projectile features Berger’s unprecedentedly concentric J4 Jacket, as well as a carefully standardized lead core and boat tail. And unlike the hollow point boat tail it so closely resembles, the Hybrid Hunter is built for wide expansion. Once it has penetrated a couple or three inches, it blows out fast to deliver enormous hydrostatic shock and dig out a gaping wound cavity.
