Most descriptions of self-defense ammunition praise the bullet’s capacity for terminal expansion. That’s what makes this ammo special. Its bullet is specifically designed not to expand – and in this case, that’s exactly the terminal performance you want.

This is a Federal Punch 25 ACP cartridge: manufactured with care in Minnesota using quality components, including a sealed Boxer primer. But at the end of the day, it is still a 25 ACP, which is why “anemic” is almost too generous a description of its striking power: around 65 ft lbs, if you can smell what the threat had for lunch.

The jacketed solid is unlike a conventional defense bullet. It has no hollow point, and cannot expand, and therefore tunnels into the threat as deeply as its momentum can take it. Its flat nose profile helps the jacketed solid point avoid deflection in the interest of deep penetration. But it doesn’t work like magic, so you’d still better aim carefully and fire as much as you can.
