20rds – 223 Rem Sierra MatchKing Competition 69gr. HPBT MatchKing Ammo

Sierra Bullets 69 Grain Hollow-Point Boat Tail (HP-BT) Ammo Details

There’s a perfect 223 Rem cartridge for every application. This MatchKing Competition load, by Sierra of Missouri? It’s not for hunting or self-defense or high-volume plinking. It’s the precision ammo you need when you’re deadset on shooting ridiculously distant targets!

The MatchKing is a match grade hollow point boat tail. The HPBT’s nose cavity does not affect its terminal performance in any way, which is to say that it does not produce any significant amount of expansion. The small opening in the bullet’s tip is only there because its core was formed when Sierra poured molten lead inside the jacket.

A rotationally stable uniformly dense lead core is far from the MatchKing’s only accuracy enhancing feature. The HPBT also features a virtually perfectly concentric jacket, a boat tail that cuts down on drag, and a slick, smooth profile which efficiently glides through the air.

The 69 grain MatchKing needs a 1:8” or 1:7” barrel twist to provide its best accuracy, and its relatively greater heft will cut down on wind deflection. Sierra loads these competition quality rounds with high-quality reloadable brass cases and match primers.
