This cartridge is loaded with a Sierra Matchking: a 69 grain hollow point boat tail projectile. Its thin jacket means it is not equipped for deep penetration, and its nose cavity is not engineered to deliver terminal expansion. That’s all to say that the MatchKing is not an ideal pick for hunting medium game, and it will not inflict a wound channel which is much wider than 0.22”.
The MatchKing is all about accuracy. Its jacket and core are both virtually flawless as far as their weight distribution are concerned, which conveys marvelous rotational stability. Its boat tail and narrow nose cavity both create very little drag, which helps the bullet conserve more downrange velocity.
